beaches on lake Como
For some years now swimming is allowed on the Lecco branch of Lake Como, although it is forbidden in the areas immediately adjacent to the Gulf of Lecco and along the river Adda. There are many beaches, equipped or natural, where you can go to relax, swim and practice water sports. Exiting from Moregallo going towards Bellagio, or from Lecco in the direction Colico, the lake has a set of coves that welcome local swimmers and those from other cities, primarily Milan. Depending on the composition of the lakebed the water can be dark or incredibly crystal clear. However, when it is deep and rich with algae it seems like you are swimming in emerald green waters that can be found for example, along the shoreline at Valbrona, just before the village of Onno. On the north side of the lake, along the Vecchia Regina route, you will find many beaches and campsites for lovers of tents, caravans and campers. The shoreline leading up from Lecco to Colico offers numerous beaches that team with swimmers in summer: Abbadia Lariana, Mandello, Lierna, Dervio, Piona and Colico where habitual windsurfers are found until the sun.
