Campione d’Italia Italia
Perhaps not everyone knows that the Campione di Italia Casino was founded in 1917, and that during the First World War, thanks to its strategic extraterritorial position, was frequented by the upper middle class who could in confidence exchange information. The structure was designed by Americo Marazzi. However the casino closed in 1919 and did not open again until 1933. In 2007, it was transferred to the lakeside modern building designed by the famous Swiss architect Mario Botta who created a cathedral dedicated to entertainment visible by day or night from Lugano and the surrounding area. The casino occupies 55,000 square meters developed on nine floors in addition to the three underground levels. There are 50 gaming tables available in the casino, plus 700 slot machines. Games available include: roulette, chemin de fer, craps, 30/40, blackjack, and poker. But the Casino at Campione d’Italia is not only synonymous with gaming. With its fascinating history, this institution has also received journalism, cultural and event awards.
