Buzzi Polleria, a shop situated in the historical centre of Lecco, close to Piazza XX Settembre for three generations. A family run business lead today by Luigi with the support of his wife Liliana and sons Mario and Laura, that remains a point of reference for many families in Lecco and beyond. In fact, for many years now, on Saturday mornings it has been traditional to go and buy roast chicken there before going home. Buzzi is synonymous with quality and excellence. Since 1901, it has offered fresh meat and poultry products such as lamb, goat, pork, game birds, roast chicken and additionally, mushrooms, truffles, and other full-flavoured quality fruit and vegetables. When the season is right, the mushrooms which are traditionally a highlight of the shop, are displayed outside the store, attracting nearby passing customers with their fragrance. Luigi, according to the wishes of his father Fedele, should have gone to work in a bank, however, he chose to follow in his father’s footsteps instead. The people of Lecco will be forever grateful that he did, because he changed their eating habits.
